Polish Mountaineering Support Foundation was established in 1990 to promote climbing and explorative activities of Poles in the mountaines of the world.
The principal purposes (which are meticuously described in the Statutes) include help in organizing expeditions, undertaking intiatives in favour of safety in the mountains and finally, supporting publications which serve a purpose of promoting Polish accomplishments in the mountains and disseminating knowledge about them.
The Statues and the Foundation Acts are singed by the most distinguished at that time Polish Himalayan Mountaineers with Wanda Rutkiewicz (unfortunately already deceased) in the foreground; moreover, there are signatures of representatives of Polish Mountaineering Association and the most important Mountaineerign Clubs in the country.
Jerzy Kukuczka, who died one year earlier on the south face of Lhotse, was chosen as Patron of the Foundation which made one of its main statutory aims to preserve memories of His achievements.
Jerzy Kukuczka Polish Mountaineering Support Foundation was created to help the injured in accidents in the mountain and support the relatives of those, who remained in the mountains forever.
Foundation’s beneficiaries include among others: Olga Morawska and her children – widowed after Piotr Morawski died tragically in 2009; Sylwia Bukowicka that brings up a daughter on her own after Bartosz Tomaszewski died tragically in 2010 in the Mont Blanc region; Paulina Kozub – a wife of Wojciech Kozub who died tragically in the Alps in 2011, she brings up a daughter, Natalia, on her own.
During the last years, the Foundation has and still is actively organizing fund risings for the injured. We have supported Maciej Stańczak, Wojciech Wenta and Artur Pierzchniak among others.
