Manaslu 2012 – summit attempt was not successful
17.05.2012"The climbers attempting the summit retreated from 7,600 m after 5 hours of making their way through the snow in strong wind. They started from higher C3, i.e. 7,100 m. They are fine and in good condition. All of them are descending to the base camp." – Jerzy Natkański, the leader of Manaslu expedition, has reported in the morning.
"Conditions of climbers was influenced by making a way in deep snow at a distance between 5,900 m and 7,400 m.” – sums up Natkański and adds: “The expedition is going to leave the base camp on May 19 and after 5 days of travelling in a caravan reach Kathmandu."
The expedition to Manaslu (8,156 m) composed of Jerzy Natkańki – the leader, Rafał Fronia, Andrzej Bargiel, Grzegorz Borkowski, Jarosław Gawrysiak, Kamil Grudzień and Piotr Snopczyńki is a part of "Polish Winter Himalayan Mountaineering 2010-2015" program, whose honorary patron is Bronisław Komorowski, the President of Poland. The Ministry of Sport and Tourism and Jerzy Kukuczka Polish Mountaineering Support Foundation finance the expedition. Equipment is provided by HiMountain.
