Report – February 9, 2012 – Camp 3 established!
10.02.2012February 9, 2012 – Base camp at the foot of GI.
6:41 PM
We’ve established camp 3.
Wind: weak in the base camp; at 7,000 m above sea level – 45 km/h; at 8,000 m above sea level – 75 km/h
Snowfall: none
Cloudiness: 5%; cloud top height – 6,500 m above sea level
Temperature: -35°C at 7,000 m above sea level; -42°C at 8,000 m above sea level
Today at approx. 3:30 PM Adam and Janusz have established camp 3. Both of them are going to spend a night there.
Artur has reached camp 2 together with Shaheen at approx. 2:00 PM. Radio contact with the base camp has been lost.
At approx. 6 PM
Currently our plans for the future depend as usually on the weather conditions that are going to deteriorate the day after tomorrow. Probably due to increasing wind speed and anticipated break in the weather both teams will descend to camp 1 and then to the base camp tomorrow. Thanks to good weather conditions that have been keeping up for two days both expeditions operate on the mountain and the base camp seems deserted. After a wonderful sunny day we are expecting a cold night.
Greetings from the whole team!
