Snowfall: none
Cloudiness: up to 10%; in the evening 0%
Temperature in the base camp: -20°C; at 6,500 m above sea level -28°C; at 7,500 m above sea level -36°C
Today at 6:00 AM local time Artur and Janusz have set off towards camp 1 and reached it without major problems at approx. 3:30 PM. Adam, Ali and Shaheen at approx. 9:00 AM have set off towards camp 2 and managed to establish it at 12:40 PM. Weather conditions have been favorable, slight cloudiness, relatively weak wind; it stems from Adam’s report that the route to “2” has been shorter and easier to mark than the route to “1.” Adam, Shaheen and Ali are going to stay overnight in camp 2 whereas Adam and Janusz are going to stay in camp 1; the night is supposed to be cold due to the lack of clouds. Further plans depend on the weather. It is already known that both high altitude porters are going to descend to the base camp tomorrow, while Adam and Janusz are going to set off to camp 2 early in the morning (or rather tonight) and join Adam. As it has been mentioned, further plans depend on tomorrow’s weather that is uncertain; according to Austrian specialist, Karl Gabl, on 4th February the weather conditions are supposed to worsen and it means that the guys will not have too much time to descend to the base camp. Bad weather conditions are to last at least till 7th or 8th February, however, we are still waiting for more up-to-date weather forecasts.
