Makalu 2011. Rescue operation in the Makalu-La Pass (7,200 m) is in progress.
03.10.2011Exhausted after the attack, Artur Hajzer and Tomasz Wolfart have reached camp 3 in the Makalu-La Pass (7,200 m), where together with Maciej Stańczak (he did not attack the peak) they await help. Three climbers descend from the peak – Adam Bielecki is already in the base camp.
A group consisting in 5 Sherpas with additional oxygen left from the base camp towards the climbers. Today in the evening a team including Kacper Tekieli and Adam Ciućka is supposed to reach the Polish climbers.
Simultaneously, as a part of the rescue operation a group of rescuers consisting in acclimatized and experienced Himalayan mountaineers is being prepared. An appeal in this case has been published at the website of explorersweb.
