Summit attempt of Makalu is already planned! Artur Hajzer’s team sets off towards the peak!

23.09.2011

Himalayan mountaineers of the expedition of Polish Mountaineering Association are in the base camp 5,600 m since yesterday. Earlier they relaxed for several days in a shepherds’ village – Yangmale Karka at 4,500 m. “The incredibly high position of the base camp at the foot of the fifth peak of the world makes it almost impossible to become regenerated – descending below the base camp was recommended” – said Artur Hajzer, the leader of the expedition, in a telephone conversation. “We are spending September 23 on preparations for the summit attempt, which is to start tomorrow, i.e. on September 24. We plan to be on the peak on September 27” – adds Hajzer.
